The Five Principles was written to provide tools for daily living and suggests answers to the great questions of existence that humans have been asking since the dawn of conscious awareness. Questions such as What is this greater Presence that we sense around us? Who and what are we? Why do things happen in our lives the way they do? How can we communicate with this Presence? and What are we here to do? The five principles constitute the core teachings of the Unity spiritual movement founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. These same principles reflect the laws of the universe that apply to everyone, all the time. They show up in every major religion, and are all reflected in the teachings of Jesus Christ. The author encourages every reader to "work with the principles, test them, apply them to your life, and watch what happens."
The Five Principles A Practical Guide to Spirituality edition by Ellen Debenport Religion Spirituality eBooks
I have studied The Science of Mind which is the main textbook for Religious Science by Ernest Holmes. As a student within Centers for Spiritual Living, I have read more Ernest Holmes As well as the metaphysical way-showers that influenced him: Emma Curtis Hopkins, Thomas Troward, and other methaphysical authors such as Joel Goldsmith. Their prose is dated and sometimes their point is obscure. While I resonate with what all of them write, it is a work to get to their golden nuggets. It was a delight to read the main principles of both Unity and Science of Mind in modern English. The author provides clear definitions and useful examples. It was restful and reassuring to read the basics in clear, concise language. My kindle version now contains many highlights and notes. I will return to this short yet powerful text when I my vibration is not with the All-Good. Ellen's words and concepts will become part of my answer to people's questions on "What is New Thought?", "What is Prayer?", and "What is consciousness"?.
With the current political climate (Summer 2018) in the United States, I paid close attention in Chapter 5 to the section of Action Vs. Activism.
To Practitioners within Science of Mind/Religious Science, this book is a gem for working with clients that are new to the concept that we create our lives from our thoughts, that God is a Presence and not a person, and that each of us are Divine.

The Five Principles A Practical Guide to Spirituality edition by Ellen Debenport Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Great book. Simple, down to earth explanations. Doesn't matter what your spiritual practice is or if you have none at all.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a quick read with lots to think about. I think this makes a great resource for someone who is new to Unity, but also could make a great study/small group book. Even if you feel like you know the Unity Principles and spiritual laws, this is a great reminder of the power we have within us and the importance of moving away from being a victim to being victorious over our lives. Worth every dollar and every minute I spent!
Really clear introduction to Unity. We used it in our new member class at our local Unity Spiritual Center. It provoked a many discussions that could be re-visited again and again. This is a book I will pick up and refer to often.
Want to know the 5 basic tenants of the Unity church? This is your book! It simple and concisely explains Unity teachings and their foundation. If you are curious about this Practical Christian school, this is a book that is a must read.
Relatively clear, modern writing that explains Unity's five principles in understandable language. A sort of basic reader that those working with these spiritual guides/ understanding can review over and over again.
As a long time follower of Unity thought, I still need a reminder from time to time. This book clearly explains the Five Principles and makes it easier to understand how to put them into practice. My experience with using the Five Principles in my day to day life is that they really do work. I have seen many positive changes in my life when I focus on the Five Principles.
The Unity principles are handled well in the author's hands. The book is compelling and comforting all at once. Of course, I am open to this interpretation and have been searching for answers. This book is helping me understand "God" more than the Bible has. Here is a God principle which I can understand and feel close to. Youngblood's review is right on the money. I have been a student of Unity and other "alternative" approaches to spirituality and Christianity for many years. This book brings a lot of things I have been reading into focus. I have been struggling with a concept of God that I could embrace. This book gave that to me. It also gives me hope, instills understanding, and provides tools I can use on a daily basis. It is easy to read, like having a conversation with a learned friend. I am enjoying the book immensely and am grateful it was brought to my attention. I have highlighted nearly the entire thing.
